I am planning on going herbalism and alchemy when classic launches. When I am leveling I am going to be using all the herbs I pick to level up my alchemy skill which will decrease the amount of gold I am making because I will be getting high…er skill level off my own supply. Do I have to wait until 60 to actually start making gold with alchemy or are there specific potions I should be making while leveling that also make money? On a PvP server, swiftness pots and invisibility pots sell fast and for respectable amounts of money. In general, I did better selling the herbal mats for potions than I did selling the pots themselves. With the mats, other alchemists can make the desired pots and maybe also skill up. Yeah, typically people are willing to spend money to level professions so that they can produce their own pots and such, and only a handful of oils and pot recipes will sell. Your daily transmutation is, of course, a steady earner. Everyone wants their arcanite bars. Your server will be different, but it might be worth keeping an eye on the price of thorium and arcane crystals versus the price of arcanite bars.

Seriously, those two professions fit together so well, I know why I always loved having picked them up and went back to alchemy after a short trip to engineering land for LK progress, it was THE profession to. Add a farming alt to the mix, and you’re golden.

Transmuting Volatile Life into other Volatiles is also a very good idea if you’re tired of never getting any truegold procs. Life to air will net you a hefty profit, unless your server is overburdened with.

I have 4 alchemists and 1 transmute master does truegold transmutes. The other 3 typcially transmute volatile life to volatile air by running the transmute in Uldum. I do my own farming for the truegold transmute and then will typicall buy the Volatile life in the AH. A stack of 20 usually costs about g. I need 45 to run a days worth of transmutes so that cost is about g.
I usually sell my Volatile air for 40g each which is about g. So I usually profit to g each day for doing nothing more than flying to Uldum. On my main server I have not sold any of my truegolds and I’m waiting to find a way to get chaos orbs to craft things but on my lesser used server I transmute truegold daily and it sells for By the way. I’ve never had any issue selling Air or Truegold.
As for the gems I wont use my alchemist to cut the gems. I will only cut them if I get them from mining or prospecting or if they are needed for the daily JC quest. Yes, transmuting from green to blue gems is expensive. The reason is because raw mats are very wanted lately, so the price is high: Even cutted gems are very cheap.
Raw mats are so desirable because everybody needs them to skill up professions, while skilling up we get a lot of bluegems.
After a month or two this will stop and I predict this: Green gems will be cheaper and blue gems will go up in price.
